Wine, local beef highlight new downtown Alpine event
An all new festival — Spirits of the West — will be held in downtown Alpine Friday through Sunday, May 27-29. The event is hosted by Alpine’s Gallery Night.
Spirits of the West will showcase wine and local beef with several events scheduled throughout the weekend, and will wrap up with the dedication of the “Desert Fiesta” mural by Chris and Ellen Ruggia of Alpine.
A VIP night on Friday, May 27, will be held on 6th Street. Limited to 250 guests, a $75 ticket includes four drinks, two charcuterie tablescapes, a swag bag of local goods, live music, art, samples, guest speakers and an entry to a raffle for a grill-themed basket from beeflovingtexans.com.
Saturday, May 28
5K Beef for Breakfast Fun Run, $50 entry fee. Starts at the Brewster County Courthouse. 8 a.m.
Downtown Alpine, $25 entry fee. Gourmet food vendors, hand-selected wine and sprits, live music, art. 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Sommelier Wine Class, $75 entry fee. Limited to 100 students. Wine and pairings, hosted by Chateau Wright Winery. Mural Alley. 2 p.m.
Ranch to Plate, $50 entry fee. Limited to 100 students. Beef finishing workshop hosted by Marfa Meats. Mural Alley. 4 p.m.
Sunday, May 29
Sunday Bloody Mary Sunday. Free Bloody Marys, hosted by Alpine’s Artwalk Board of Directors. Donations will be collected for school art supplies and scholarships. 6th Street. 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Brunch with the weekend’s food vendors. 6th Street. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Desert Fiesta mural dedication. In the Mural Alley between 5th an 6th Streets. 11 a.m.
